( It's been a rough couple weeks, trying to find the rhythm of the new schedule )

Christine smiles as she realizes that she and Ian are the only ones in U.S. History class. Good thing Professor Xavier's teaching, so he can think at us instead of having to speak and sign!. She types a quick e-mail to Ian:

Ian,

Hope classes aren't killing you! I know we have a few together - come visit and we'll see if we can help each other with the homework :)

She chuckles, and makes sure Cade has his "walkies" before she settles in to wait for his familiar knock.

They say that scent is the strongest memory trigger, and as the leaves turn and fall, I find myself remembering so much.

Jumping into a pile of leaves that the gardener had just raked. He was so mad, but when I found the slug in my hair, he pulled the icky thing out when I screamed.

sshhusshing through the leaves on my way to my classes, and leaving a five foot trail of foliage into the building.

Watching the young fillies and colts frisking in the paddock as the afternoons got chillier.

Trail riding with Grampa, where Feather would try to rub me off on a tree as if I were an irritating, chirping bird that annoyed her.

The earth opening up like a huge mouth and swallowing me down.

Traveling with my friend's family down to Pennsylvania to see the leaves change color.

I may not be able to see anymore, but for now, the scents are enough to paint the pictures in my head.

I have friends too, which is something new. Grace and Lotte and Ian and Jane and Nick and Theo and people I'm probably forgetting.

A new semester is starting. We might actually be treated to a rare sighting of our esteemed faculty. Ms. Frost is back, so I can get back to work with my abilities. Yep, back to school.

I can't wait.

Fall leaves smell nice.

Christine is Cade-less again, and her white cane sways before her as she makes her way back down to Ms. Frost's office.

She hasn't been practicing at all, not since the accident and her conversation with Scott. He told her not to, not without supervision, so she shouldn't be in too much trouble, right?

Then why is she so nervous?

Enough.

She doesn't know where his room is now that he's moved. They've always sort of run into each other every other time, so all she has is e-mail, or send Cade after him again.

She stays in her room during the day, for the most part, with occasional forays into the kitchen for noshies. Probably not the best way to keep from feeling detached from what's happening, but it's better than wandering around and maybe catching up with people.

What: Christine finds out the straight dope on what happened, and has a visit with Grace as well.

Christine harnessed Cade up to go looking for someone who could tell her what was going on...and runs into Nick.

She saves her journal entry on her computer and clucks her tongue to Cade. "C'mon, big guy. Let's go get some ice cream." She chuckles as the Shepherd pads to her side, and she buckles his harness on out of habit. "And maybe get someone to read the labels so I don't end up with pecans or nuts or anything."

She knows the journey to the kitchen by heart, but lets Cade lead to keep him in practice. She's been going around without him too much lately, since she's getting more acquainted with the mansion and the outlying grounds.

What: Christine confesses the events regarding her power practice - advice ensues

Where: The exercise yard outside the stables

What: Christine tries to practice her powers and things go slightly awry.

That afternoon sees Christine and Cade heading back from outside. She puts Cade in her room, and then she stalks the hallways, her cane twitching in front of her and her jaw clenched in suppressed anger. She has several stops to make.

First, to the medilabs, to at least leave a message for Dr. McCoy that Ian is all right, that the emotions following the attack overwhelmed him, but that he's fine and will return to the Mansion this evening.

Second, to Scott's office, where she leaves him a brief note:

Mr. Summers,

I realize that you're still recovering, but in the events surrounding your illness, there was some damage doen to Ian's door. Merric had to burn it so we could get inside and see if Ian was in there and all right, and I hope that arrangements can be made for a temporary relocation until the door can be fixed.

Ian is doing fine, and I hope you're feeling better.

Third, to the kitchen, where she eats the lunch she neglected in her search for Ian.

Fourth, back to her room, where she sits at the computer to pour out the emotions she pushed aside for Ian.

Lastly, she takes Cade to the Tennisball Marathon field to give him some extra playtime. She should find someone to cook him a steak for what he did today.
